Mental Health Matters: Autism Awareness

On the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month, SC Thrive hosts a one hour community conversation on Zoom to learn more about thriving through crises and preserving mental health in tough times. Each conversation focuses on a different topic and has an expert guest to share helpful information and answer your questions.

An estimated one (1) in 59 children has Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the rates are increasing. Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the world. Raising awareness helps people understand and not be frightened by the disability. This week our host, George Rice, will be speaking with two educators and parents, Alberta Stewart and Kay Ware about autism. Each individual on the autism spectrum is unique, with their own challenges to be addressed and strengths to be nurtured. That’s something worth making others aware of and talking about.
