Smart, funny, quirky, and extremely intelligent, Travis is pure magic, and he knows it. His mom, Danielle, smiles when she describes him as a dichotomous child: half sweet baby and half full-grown man.
Travis has been diagnosed with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and septo optic dysplasia. He can only see out of one eye. He did not start speaking until he was almost 4-years-old, but today he is a talkative child whose unique ability to feel and understand things is uncanny. He hears and pays attention to absolutely everything and remembers even the smallest detail.
Travis is interested in history, flags of other countries and the military. He also enjoys playing Fortnite and Minecraft. For the past two years, he has been participating in an art contest through the library for the visually impaired. He creates 3D tactile art. Last year, he created a firetruck and crew. This year, his entry is an interpretation of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Another exciting milestone for Travis was when he received a monocular and other visual aids from Project Magnify. His mom recalls his first visit to the zoo after he received the monocular. Travis was overjoyed to be able to see the animals so clearly.
When Travis is not exploring the world around him, he adores spending time with his amazing pets—the tortoise and the hare. He has a rabbit, and an African spurred sulcata tortoise named Rocco. This type of tortoise can grow to be over 150 pounds. Currently, Rocco is about the size of a dinner plate and likes to cuddle like a puppy. Travis also enjoys time at home with his family, talking about everything!
