Ashley, sometimes known to her family as “Mi Mariposita” (My little butterfly), is a determined, go-getter 5-year-old girl. She is always willing to try new things and doesn’t give up even when things get tough. Ashley has a diagnosis of autism. She has a resilient nature that shines through when she meets a challenge or gets frustrated when communicating with others because she will continue until she accomplishes her goal.
This school year has been an exciting one for Ashley. She received nine certificates demonstrating her ability to work hard and make incredible progress. Each time her name was called during the presentation she was beaming with pride, as was her family. When Ashley is not busy excelling at school, she enjoys swimming, going to the park, and socializing with friends and family.
Ashley’s mom wants others to know, “Ashley speaks two languages, Spanish and English, and we hope she learns a third language one day. She is happy, intelligent, and capable. She is also a fighter who never has a bad day and radiates light and love. Anyone who meets Ashley should know that since she was little, she has worked very hard to achieve her goals.”
