Family Connection of South Carolina's Mission Impact

For 30 years, Family Connection of South Carolina has been changing lives by making connections, raising awareness, and promoting inclusion for those with disabilities and special healthcare needs.

We are a statewide nonprofit organization that connects families of children with special healthcare needs, disabilities or chronic illnesses with resources, support, and education.
We strive to meet the information and training needs of parents of infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities, ages birth through 26.
Each year more than 3,000 families contact our Parent Information Center. Since 1990, Family Connection has served more than 100,000 families.
This one-on-one guidance helps families navigate the special education system, empowers parents to effectively problem-solve, and connects families to community resources that address their needs.
Our professional staff can assist families who are navigating health care systems, such as Medicaid, TEFRA, appeals and managed care information.
In 2015, the U.S. Department of Education designated Family Connection as the Parent Training and Information Center for South Carolina.
Family Connection empowers parents with tools, training, and support to help them understand the educational system. We help families collaborate with educators to identify and provide the best support and services for their children.
Family Connection assists parents and families in utilizing systems that provide healthcare, early intervention, special education, general education, and postsecondary options for their children.

Family Connection’s Family Information Center is available to take referrals or answer questions Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at 1-800-578-8750.
