Jackson’s interests are as eclectic as they are passionate. As an “old soul,” he enjoys technologies that predate his birth including VHS tapes, vinyl records, and cassettes. His musical skills extend to cello, guitar, ukulele, banjolele, and piano. Beyond music, Jackson is a budding coder, a lover of flea market treasures, and a devoted cat lover.
Diagnosed early with autism and ADHD, Jackson’s journey has been full of growth. Though their family faced obstacles finding the right academic fit, they eventually found a home within a charter school which allowed Jackson to blossom. Today, Jackson navigates his world with a humor that leans towards the sarcastic, a distaste for mornings, and a reserved nature that masks his deep kindness.
Jackson is known not just for his academic achievements but also for his innate ability to lend a hand. Whether helping an elderly person at the grocery store or assisting his grandparents, his actions speak volumes about his character. His involvement in the South Carolina Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, where he plays the cello, showcases not just his musical talents but also his commitment to his community.
As Jackson continues to defy the stereotypes associated with his disabilities, his mother’s hope is clear: for the world to see Jackson for who he truly is—a capable, brilliant young man destined for greatness, never defined by his challenges but empowered by his achievements.
