Ten-year-old Cortland LaBreck—affectionately known as “CortCort”—is a bright, determined, and creative force. From the moment he was born, Cortland has brought laughter and love into the lives of everyone around him.
Homeschooled since kindergarten, Cortland is already a year ahead of his peers academically. He is also the proud mini-CEO of Cortland Greer & Company LLC, a brand that reflects his creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and mission to inspire others. One of his favorite projects is creating stories—often using AI—about his best friend, who is also on the autism spectrum. Together, their stories help share real-life experiences and promote autism acceptance.
Cortland is also a talented musician and artist. He taught himself to play the piano by ear, once surprising his mom by flawlessly playing a popular song she thought was coming from her phone. His talents do not stop there—he has been modeling for local businesses and serving as a kid influencer for over five years.
While Cortland has worked through speech and occupational therapy, he continues to use his coping strategies daily and inspires others by being true to himself.
His family describes him as happy, outgoing, and fiercely determined. Even on hard days, Cortland brings laughter and comfort to those around him. “God broke the mold when He made him,” his mom says. “He hung the moon. Cortland just being Cortland is what brings people joy.”
One especially proud moment came when his mom had a medical emergency—Cortland called 911 and calmly handled the entire phone call. His family will never forget the comfort of knowing he could rise to the occasion with courage and clarity.
Whether he is playing baseball, creating music, drawing, or laughing with his best friends, Cortland brings energy and heart to everything he does. His family hopes he continues growing into the purpose God has for him—a life of joy, authenticity, and impact.
Cortland is living proof that “different is not less.” His diagnosis did not define or break his family; it brought them closer together and helped them see the beauty in differences. He is what acceptance and inclusion look like in action—and the world is better with him in it.
