When you meet Forbes, you are immediately struck by his energy, his hugs, and his unstoppable joy. He makes strangers smile and reminds everyone around him what resilience and love look like in real time.
Forbes joined his family after a season of loss, when their biological son passed before birth in 2016. When the call came about Forbes later that same year, they knew it was not a coincidence. It was meant to be.
Forbes was adopted into his forever family at just seven months old, and though his early days were full of questions, it was not long before he was diagnosed with a rare form of dwarfism called Russell-Silver Syndrome. Since then, he has faced dozens of hospital stays, countless procedures, memory issues due to anesthesia, and daily challenges that come with living in a world not built for someone his size. But through it all, Forbes leads with a bubbly spirit and a heart that is always open.
He is a natural performer. Last year, he wowed the crowd singing the national anthem at a Miracle League baseball game. He is also a proud competitor in USA Gymnastics’ HUGS program, where he has won countless medals and currently ranks first in his state division for his age.
What inspires his family the most is his forgiving heart. Even after so many medical moments that required bravery far beyond his years, Forbes never loses his trust or kindness. “He has a love like no other,” his mom says. “It radiates from him pure, forgiving, and joyful.”
His favorite things? Big Air trampoline park, Chuck E. Cheese, cats, and anything involving gymnastics. He loves making people laugh, “booping” noses, and forming heart shapes with his hands. He is a people-person through and through.
Forbes has taught his family to slow down and savor the moment. Every day with him is a reminder that life’s greatest gifts are not measured in milestones but in smiles, songs, and the simple joy of being together.
Looking ahead, his family hopes for a world that meets Forbes with the same kindness he so freely gives, a world that sees him for who he is: more than his size, and full of life and love.
