If you ever need cheering up, Ashley is the girl to take care of it! Whether it is a hug, a kiss, or a minute of tenderness, this little girl knows how to turn a person’s day around. Her family says she brings life and color to their home.
Leisure time for Ashley usually involves playing in water. She loves to go to the park and enjoys celebrating anyone’s birthday because she loves to eat cake. Ashley also enjoys taking naps with mom.
A diagnosis of autism has made speech challenging for Ashley, but in the past year she has been saying more words and using her initiative to improve her vocabulary in both Spanish and English. These efforts are helping her make great progress in school, and her family is excited to hear her speak more spontaneously. School is not the only place where Ashley is showing her abilities. At church she has helped create a space for programs for children with special needs.
“Ashley is just love” says her mother, Yokasta. “When I need something to help me stay motivated and feel happy, just thinking of my little butterfly (Mi mariposite) keeps me pushing forward.” She also makes her mother smile because as the youngest one in the family, Ashley can get away with little things her other kids would not.
“I hope and have faith that my daughter will speak fluently and in different languages” says Yokasta. “I hope her life will be full and she will achieve everything she sets her mind to, like going to college, getting married, and having children. This will make me even more proud of my amazing little girl.”
