If sunshine had a laugh, it would sound like Hayes. This joyful, curious little boy has a way of bringing smiles wherever he goes—often while dancing, giggling, or showing off his latest marble creation. Whether he is building, playing, or just flashing that infectious grin, Hayes has a natural gift for turning everyday moments into something unforgettable.
Hayes is a hands-on explorer who wants to know how everything works. He watches closely, listens intently, and always seems to be quietly gathering clues about the world around him. He adores his cousin Natalie, and the two of them are often found in the middle of some kind of fun.
Hayes is diagnosed with a rare disease which can cause low muscle tone, eye problems, cerebellar atrophy, brainstem atrophy, and mitochondrial myopathy. Therapy is a big part of Hayes’s weekly routine, but for him, it is just more time to play, learn, and grow. He especially loves horseback riding therapy, which is both peaceful and playful. Spending time with the horses is something he absolutely loves, and it strengthens his balance and helps him find a calm confidence.
One of Hayes’s favorite things in the world is dancing. He cannot help but move to the music, even when he is in the middle of therapy sessions. His family jokes that dancing might be slowing down his walking progress, but nobody is in a rush when there is so much joy in the moment. And recently, all that determination paid off—Hayes took his very first independent step on March 5, 2025. It was a tiny step, and yet a giant leap in the eyes of those who love him.
Hayes is always up for a new adventure. He loves robots, sports, and reading books about his favorite games. He is often found turning his room into a creative world of characters, stories, and inventions. Whether it is rolling marbles or rolling with laughter, Hayes puts his whole heart into everything he does.
More than anything, Hayes brings people together. His family says he is a daily reminder to focus on what really matters. He has taught them how to slow down, how to be present, and how to celebrate the little things—like giggles, steps, and sweet moments shared on the front porch.
Looking ahead, Hayes’s family hopes he keeps his sense of wonder, his determined spirit, and his endless ability to make people smile. No matter what comes next, they know one thing for sure—Hayes will meet it with laughter, love, and a dance break.
