William is a very intelligent little boy who always has a smile on his face. He lights up a room and has the biggest heart for others. He is also a bit of a comedian, though he doesn’t always realize it. He loves to spend time with his friends and sisters, and he enjoys reading and playing baseball, soccer, and golf. He is always laughing. William is the kind of person that radiates love and he is honest to a fault.
William was diagnosed with autism as an infant. The official diagnosis began a whirlwind of waiting lists, appointments, a lot of reading, and explaining things to family and friends. Things were pretty scary at first, and still sometimes are, but ultimately, his family has become part of an amazing community. They have learned and grown together.
Bathing, brushing teeth, brushing hair, and mealtimes were all very difficult at first. With help from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, repetition and patience, William has overcome so many challenges.
If William sees anyone hurting, he always tries to comfort them. He is amazing at math and is always working very hard to beat all the math challenges at school. He loves to learn new things and enjoys singing. There is never a day that he’s not teaching his family something new. William has helped everyone in his family grow as individuals and as a family.
His mom knows that he will overcome any obstacle he meets, because not only does he have the drive to do so, but he has a village that will help.
