Trevor is a loving and funny young man who has never met a stranger. Trevor shows that every person is valuable through high fives, fist bumps, and hugs, and he often hears that his warm, welcoming personality can make someone’s whole day better. He also loves to play pranks on family, friends, and teachers—so much so that he’s earned the nickname Tricky Trevor.
Whether it’s greeting people at church, attending a festival, or going to school, Trevor loves being around others and is a people person at heart. He enjoys listening to music and has built his own CD collection, having learned how to operate a CD player. He also likes watching videos on his tablet or phone, eating cheeseburgers, and drinking Coca Cola.
Trevor proved a pediatrician wrong when he was told that with Down syndrome, Trevor would never be able to run. Through consistent physical therapy and determination, he became a runner and now competes in unified track at his school. He has faced other challenges, like being nonverbal – yet one year at the Special Olympics Annual State House Rally, Trevor took the microphone and spoke to the entire audience! Trevor meets every challenge with positivity and happiness.
Last summer, Trevor was hospitalized for a perforated appendix, a scary experience for both him and his family. The outpouring of love from his community showed just how many lives he has touched. Despite challenges that make life harder for Trevor than for other 16-year-old boys, he doesn’t let anything stop him. He spreads love and kindness every day to his family, friends, teachers, classmates, and even strangers, showing everyone that the most important thing in life is loving one another.
