Brooklynn, lovingly known as Brooke, is a bright, joyful girl whose presence brings a sense of warmth to everyone around her. She radiates happiness in everything she does with her big smile and contagious laugh. Whether she’s watching kids play, reaching out to pet a passing dog, or soaking up the sun on the patio, Brooke can turn ordinary moments into joyful ones. She automatically makes people feel more cheerful and connected just by being near her.
Brooke was diagnosed with a developmental delay at just two months old, and later, with Angelman Syndrome, which is a genetic neuro-developmental disorder caused by a deletion on her 15th chromosome. This can cause seizures, developmental delays, and speech impairment. Doctors once said she would never walk, talk, or show emotion. However, today, Brooke walks, runs, feeds herself, communicates through sign language, and expresses her emotions with clarity and heart. Her progress is supported by therapy and her IEP at school, and she continues learning and growing, working toward the goal of living semi independently as an adult.
Brooke finds joy in smiling at people, watching animals, hanging out on the balcony, and lounging by the pool during the summer. She also loves watching things on her iPad, Husky dogs, and the excitement of seeing her mom after time apart. Brooke’s family describes her as someone who never lets anything stop her. When she wants something, she adapts and finds her own way. Her joyful spirit and loving presence leaves a lasting impact on everyone who is lucky enough to know her.
