Maggie is small but MIGHTY! This is why she has earned the name Mighty Maggie. Not only is she tough, but she is also incredibly silly and playful. Her personality grows more and more each day. Maggie loves playing peekaboo with her big sister, laughing at silly faces, and spending time with her twin sister. She inspires everyone around her, especially when she quickly bounced back from open-heart surgery.
When she was born, Maggie received a diagnosed of Tetralogy of Fallot, a combination of four congenital heart defects that affect how blood flows through the heart. Her family was told she would need surgery around six months of age. After spending 44 days in the NICU, she was finally able to go home, where she continued to struggle with weight gain and feeding, but she stayed strong. Maggie had open-heart surgery at seven months old and recovered quickly, beginning to eat better and gain weight. She has experienced a few developmental delays due to her prematurity and heart condition, but with the guidance of her medical team and support from feeding and developmental therapies, she has gotten stronger and successfully navigated both surgery and recovery. She continues to grow and thrive, showing determination and adaptability every day.
Recently, Maggie took her first steps—a milestone her family once believed might be delayed. She has changed her family by teaching them patience and how to appreciate the smallest victories. Maggie continues to show that strength can come in the smallest packages. She is fierce, playful, and stronger than she looks. She is our Mighty Maggie!
