Scout is an outdoor girl at heart and loves nature and animals. She is loving, affectionate, adventurous, and truly one of the happiest girls you will ever meet. Scout and her family love spending time outside together, making the most of every opportunity to enjoy the fresh air. One of her favorite things to do is go on long walks and explore the local parks around them.
Scout is a very smart girl who has found meaningful ways to communicate while learning to use her augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device. She has learned to sign and continues to develop her own unique ways to express her needs and connect with those around her. Scout has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and is nonverbal. For Scout’s family, learning to communicate with a nonverbal child has its challenges, and they recognize how frustrating that can be for Scout. Watching the way she shows empathy and finds ways to communicate her needs has been incredibly meaningful for her family.
Scout’s mom, Elisabeth, writes “I want the world to know how smart and kind my girl is. She brings so much joy to everyone who meets her. I only hope for a kind world and one that accepts my girl for who she is.”
