Isaiah is very much “work first, play second.” He is loyal, talkative, giving, and caring. He invites others into his space on his own time, but once he is comfortable with you, you know you have earned his trust. He enjoys working on small projects that give him a sense of accomplishment, including diamond art and mowing the lawn. Isaiah also loves playing virtual reality games, reading books, texting his friends, and learning how to bake. One of the easiest ways to make him laugh is when his mom does impersonations of real-life situations they have experienced.
In kindergarten, Isaiah’s teacher encouraged his mom to have him evaluated after he showed signs of autism. Finding a diagnosis has allowed his family to understand his needs and become a better advocates for him. In 2024, Isaiah became a Christian, which has become a meaningful part of his difficult journey. His faith gives him a sense of hope, confidence, and belonging, helping to bring light to areas where he once struggled.
Every Sunday on the way to church, Isaiah rides in the front seat with his mom during their 35-minute drive and talks the entire way about all kinds of topics. This is something that feels very “him.” If he could be anyone, he would want to be one of the disciples, walking alongside Jesus during His time on Earth. Isaiah also enjoys playing arcade games at Dave and Buster’s, riding go-karts at Frankies and taking weekend trips to his favorite beach in Charleston.
