When you meet Genesis, you will instantly feel her bubbly personality! Her happiness has a ripple effect and puts smiles on the faces of people around her.

When Genesis was two, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, that affected her motor and developmental skill. Therefore, when Genesis achieves a new milestone, the Hucks family rejoices in her accomplishments. Today, she doesn’t slow down—her playful nature always wants to keep going.

Genesis loves to go places and be a part of the outdoors. She also enjoys listening to music, using her yoga ball, and going exploring in the car.

Genesis has helped her family grow closer together. They are truly involved in all aspects of her life, and they are rarely far apart. Mom, Serena, says, “I want the world to know that Genesis is just like any other child. She may have a few challenges, but her spirit is happy and her smile is bright.”

Cuando Génesis tenía dos años, le diagnosticaron una parálisis cerebral que afectaba a su capacidad motriz y de desarrollo. Por eso, cuando Génesis alcanza un nuevo hito, la familia Hucks se alegra de sus logros. Hoy en día, no baja el ritmo: su naturaleza juguetona siempre quiere seguir adelante.

A Génesis le encanta ir a sitios y participar en la vida al aire libre. También le gusta escuchar música, usar su pelota de yoga y salir a explorar en el coche.

Génesis ha ayudado a su familia a estar más unida. Están realmente involucrados en todos los aspectos de su vida, y rara vez se separan. Su madre, Serena, dice: “Quiero que el mundo sepa que Génesis es como cualquier otro niño. Puede que tenga algunos retos, pero su espíritu es feliz y su sonrisa es brillante”.

Family Connection of South Carolina provides services and resources to families who have a child with a disability or specialized healthcare need. Since 1990 we have served more than 100,000 families and today our services are needed more than ever. We focus on parent-to-parent support, guidance with navigating the complex healthcare system, and assistance with school meetings and special education plans.
